The Moped

This rig was a gift. On the Triangle Denizen’s of Doom mailing list, we were making jokes about me needing a sidecar to complement the broad selection of bikes, when I asked Amy Spiker if, by chance, the Moped was for sale. Amy sent me an offline email telling me that, if I would fix her up and take care of here, the Moped was mine to have. I snapped up the opportunity. The bike needed some work -- it had sat for three years or so while Amy rode her new rig, the BagWagon (A big Harley with a California Sidecars Friendship II car). I cleaned the carbs, rebuilt the forks, replaced the shock, replaced the sidecar tire, and rebuilt the brakes. A few other maintenance type tasks got the bike ready for the road. In general, the rig runs fine, but it has an occasional electrical glitch I’ve yet to trace down. It’s probably a bad connector, and it should be fixed by summer.
