This is a bike bought for pure affection. I’d been enamored of the newer 900SS series from Ducati since its inception in 1991 with the gorgeous white-framed edition. In 1997, I finally bought one new, a left over 1996 SP model, with fully adjustable front and rear suspension, a 5.5 inch rear wheel, the aluminum swingarm, and better brakes and other bits than the CR version. The bike is still stock, with the exception of the tires, which are a Dunlop D207ZR front, and a D205 rear. The D205 front just didn’t work with this bike, making the front end feel loose and disconnected. The D207 returned the front end to it’s original terrific feel.
